VW has announced that their so-called #PinkBeetle is set to go into production as the first ever vehicle to be officially named with its own hashtag.

The 2017 #PinkBeetle is a US-only limited edition model, featuring a 1.8-liter turbocharged TSI engine and a 6-speed automatic gearbox, helping it put down its 170 HP and 184 lb-ft (249 Nm) of torque.

Its exterior boasts a unique shade of Fresh Fuchsia Metallic paint, as well as gloss-black mirror caps and black running boards, though where the Coupe versions come with 17″ multi-spoke Linas alloys, the Convertibles feature 18″ five-spoke Twister wheels.

Both versions are equipped with Bi-Xenon headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights, LED taillights and LED rear license plate lighting as standard.

Inside, the #PinkBeetle has a black dashpad with a surrounding pink accent and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters. The Pink Club cloth seats are supposed to mimic the GTI’s signature plaid inserts by replacing the red striping with a pink hue.

In terms of tech, the limited edition Beetle comes with VW’s MIB II Infotainment system, App-Connect technology (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink), all accessible through a 6.3″ touchscreen.

USB and Bluetooth connectivity is standard, as are the heated front seats, keyless entry system, push-button start system, rear-view camera and the 3-month trial for SiriusXM Satellite Radio.
