There are so many things to get excited about the new Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400, starting with that new, twin turbo 400hp V6 engine.
Codenamed VR30, the new 3.0-litre V6 replaces the old VQ naturally aspirated engine series and its stats sound brilliant: 400hp (405PS) and 350lb ft (474Nm) of torque and the promise of minimal turbo lag, courtesy of the twin turbos being mounted directly to the cylinder heads.
Other highlights include the drive-by-wire steering system, the first application of its kind in the real world and one of the key technologies that will eventually allow fully autonomous vehicles to hit our roads.
It all sounds very promising indeed, especially if you think that all this tech is stuffed into Infiniti’s rear-wheel driven compact executive sedan. If all these ingredients are mixed together properly, the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400 could prove to be one of the most entertaining cars in its class.
Or will it? Motor Trend tries to find out in their latest episode of Ignition in the video linked below.
