Having made its world premiere at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in March, the all-new Q2 has started rolling off the production line.
The Q2 is manufactured at Audi’s main plant, in Ingolstadt. To increase total capacity, a fully automatic module store for the drivetrain was installed on the assembly line, which will put together approximately 450 units daily.
“The start of series production of a new model is always a great challenge and something special for a plant and its employees. We are proud to be building the Audi Q2 – the Q-family entry model – here in Ingolstadt for the world market“, commented the plant’s director, Albert Mayer.
Audi will soon begin taking orders for the Q2, which benefits from modern connectivity technology, infotainment and assistance systems. At the time of its launch, it will be available with a choice of six different engines – three TFSI petrol units and three TDI diesels, producing between 116 HP and 190 HP.
The brand’s largest production location and Europe’s second-largest car plant, the Ingolstadt facility is responsible for assembling more than 500,000 vehicles annually, with a new Audi being completed every 30 seconds.
