Idaho may not be the most exciting place on earth but every year, the state does play host to the exhilarating Sun Valley Road Rally which allows supercar owners to max out their vehicles on a closed section of perfectly smooth tarmac.
Each and every year, a huge range of European exotics flock to the event to hit speeds unachievable anywhere else in the world except on unrestricted parts of the Autobahn. At this year’s event, there was one real highlight, a bespoke Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse L’Or Rouge dubbed ‘Hellbug’.
Painted in black and adorned with some exceptionally intricate stripping, it really is unlike any other Veyron and despite its immense value, the owner is more than happy to take it to astronomical speeds. This year, he hit an impressive 230 mph (370 km/h) on the narrow two lane road that can only be described as dramatically different to the perfectly smooth Ehra-Lessien test track where this car was developed.
Last year, the same Veyron Vitesse hit 235.7 mph (379 km/h) and as you’d imagine, is a true favorite among all those that attend the high-speed, high-octane event.
