An unknown automaker from Malta dubbed Valene Motors has revealed its plans to launch an electric trike that, in range-topping specification, will pump out no less than 810 HP.
As with the Morgan 3-Wheeler and Polaris Slingshot, Valene’s ‘Black Mamba’ has been designed with two wheels at the front and a single driven wheel at the rear. A small electric motor found within the rear wheel’s hub will provide the power for the entry-level model and will be offered alongside 15 kWh, 30 kWh and 50 kWh battery packs, offering ranges from 180 km and up to 500 km.
The company claims that the Black Mamba will ride on a steel spaceframe chassis and be completed with lightweight composite body panels. While no weight figure has been announced, Valene says that the base variant with 107 hp will reach 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in just 4.2 seconds. Lord knows how fast the 810 hp version will sprint off the line.
Details about the company are hard to come by, including how it plans to fund such an ambitious project, so for now we’re remaining sceptical, but if the Black Mamba does see the light of day in production-guise, it’ll be a nice addition to the club of driver-focused sports cars. Or trikes.
