As the F10-generation BMW 5-Series nears the end of its production lifecycle, the company has unveiled the potent Competition Edition, restricted to just 200 units worldwide.
Compared to the standard M5, the 2016 Competition Edition delivers 592 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque from its tweaked 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Thanks to the increase in boost and a recalibrated ECU, the sprint from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) is whipped off in just 3.9 seconds. While previous special editions of the F10 M5 have featured the same power figures, the Competition Edition does include some special touches.
For starters, it comes complete with the M Competition Package as standard and is adorned with all the carbon fiber M Performance exterior parts imaginable. These include a new rear spoiler, rear diffuser and carbon wing mirror caps, alongside a set of Jet Black 20-inch wheels and a gloss black kidney grille.
Elsewhere, the M Competition Package includes thicker anti-roll bars, stiffer springs and dampers, a custom electronically controlled limited slip differential and a set of six-piston brakes finished in Jet Black paint.
The inside of the BMW M5 Competition Edition comes complete with Black Merino leather offset with Opal White stitching. There is also some special ‘1/200/ engraving in the cabin.
UK pricing for the model starts at £100,995 (about $133,000 in the U.S.)
