Evo Magazine recently pitted the potent Jaguar F-Type R AWD against the Porsche 911 Turbo S, one of the quickest accelerating cars on the planet. In fact in this test, the red rocket used sprinted to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 2.6 seconds so obviously, the much heavier F-Type didn’t stand a chance.
On paper, the winner is easy to pick. While the F-Type’s supercharged V8 is much larger than the 911’s twin-turbo flat six, it is actually 30 hp down on the Porsche’s 572 hp. What’s more, the German has one of the fastest shifting dual-clutch transmissions ever conceived, a 200 kg weight advantage and a truly ferocious launch control system essentially unmatched in the industry.
So yeah, the 911 wins but the Brit certainly sounds the best.
