Top Gear’s presenter Chris Evans is in deep trouble as reports have emerged saying that BBC executive Kate Phillips has told him to make some ‘big changes’ if he wants to stay on the show.

According to UK’s Mirror, Evans’ “control freak” behavior has led to many complaints filed from the show’s cast and crew which combined with the low ratings of the last episodes forced Phillips to take action.

Sources described the situation as the star’s “biggest telling off of his career” as he’s been told that there will changes and if he doesn’t like it then he should go.

Kate Phillips, responsible for overseeing entertainment commissioning across BBC, is looking into making Matte LeBlanc Top Gear’s head presenter as he is already known across the globe if Chris Evans decides not to cooperate in the said ‘big’ changes.

“Matt is more well-known and popular with audiences, so Chris will take a back seat like he did towards the end of the series,” the source said. “The other presenters will have a more prominent role and it will be seen as an ensemble rather than Chris and his team.”

Previous reports said that Matt LeBlanc issued an ultimatum to BBC that he’ll leave the show unless Chris Evans does first, with countless others saying that there is a lot of tension between the presenting team caused by Evans’ behavior.

You know what they say: where there’s smoke…
