Hyundai has spun off the Genesis into a standalone brand and its next move to better rival the likes of BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz is a dealership network.
The first step is the opening of a dedicated store near Seoul, South Korea, over the next months. According to Reuters, the location has been selected at what will eventually become the country’s biggest shopping mall, Starfield Hanam.
Currently, it will display just two models, the G80, which replaces the Hyundai Equus, and the G90. Soon, though, they will be joined by an additional four models.
These include a BMW 3-Series rival, expected to wear the G70 moniker, that was previewed by the New York Concept, a sport coupe and two SUVs.
The future looks promising for the Genesis brand, which could also tackle the electric vehicle segment with a dedicated model, while PHEVs and N high-performance versions are also on the cards.
