When it comes to the tenth-generation Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, its S-AWC (Super All Wheel Drive Control) system was always one of the car’s biggest selling points.

The thing is, regardless of how much grip you think your car has or how much speed it can carry through a corner, it’s always best to know the vehicle’s handling characteristics like the back of your hand before you push your luck at the Nurburgring.

This white Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X almost stood a chance at making it out of this corner without hitting the wall and damaging its rear end, however the driver made a series of mistakes that made what happened inevitable.

As far as we can tell, the crash is a result of carrying too much speed into the corner, plus lift-off oversteer and braking once on the grass. The latter was pretty much what doomed the Lancer, making the slide 100% impossible to overcome.

Had the speed been lower and the driver more aware of the characteristics of the corner, the impact might not have taken place at all. Do you think the slide was still recoverable prior to the wheels ending up on the grass?
