While its name has changed a couple of times, all current-generation Dodge Vipers share a naturally-aspirated 8,4-liter V10 engine, which depending on spec, can pump out up to 645 hp. That’s not enough for you? Well Hennessey Performance has the answer.
The Texas-based tuning specialists decided to fit a supercharger to help bump power to a more-than-adequate 808 hp. While a supercharged V10 of this capacity could easily produce over 1000 hp, this Hennessey package is quite restrained and runs on ‘just’ 5 psi of boost pressure.
Alongside the blower are the necessary intercooler, a set of high-flow injectors as well as an upgrade engine management system. Elsewhere, there is also a thunderous 3-inch stainless steel exhaust system.
When fitted with drag radial tires, Hennessey’s upgraded Viper can sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h) in a mere 2.9 seconds while completing the quarter mile in just 10.5 seconds at 143 mph (230 km/h), two very impressive figures considering the Viper is rear-wheel drive. Look out Lamborghini Aventador owners.
As with other tuning packages from Hennessey, this one includes some Venom 800 badging and a set of serial-numbered dash and engine plaques.
As for the sound, well the video below speaks for itself…
