Porschephilles holding a grudge against the automaker for its decision to ditch the manual gearbox in the 991-gen GT3 will rejoice in the latest news that the stick and third pedal are making a comeback.
Confirming previous intel that the facelifted GT3 991.2 would pack a 6-speed manual transmission are the images by our spy photographers, who caught an entire convoy of updated GT3s on the move.
One of them sports a hidden shifter – which, in isolation, wouldn’t have raised as much suspicion as the fact that the car is clearly missing the PDK’s paddles behind the steering wheel, as well as the gauge cluster shift indicator.
Aesthetically, the car seems to be displaying a typical track-oriented appearance with a low spoiler lip, large rear wing, wider rear wheels, sleeker LED running lights and 991.2-specific headlights and taillights, while in terms of performance, if the reports are confirmed, the restyled GT3 should feature the same 500 PS flat-six unit used by the 911 R and GT3 RS.
