It’s obvious that BMW’s flagship 2 Series is a tuner’s dream, as more and more aftermarket specialists compete to bump its output and make its wide-body even wider and more aggressive.

AC Schnitzer came up with the most outrageous variant, after the tuner stuffed a modified variant of the M3 and M4’s S55 421PS (425hp) 3.0L turbo six producing 570PS (562hp) under the M2’s bonnet, but Manhart took it up a notch, turning the dial up to 11.

The German tuner decided to celebrate its 30th anniversary by creating a monstrous, but very special M2. So, after much consideration (like 5 seconds), the car received a 630PS (621hp) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque 3.0-litre S55, featuring a bespoke intercooler, and custom turbos.

There aren’t any official performance figures out in the open yet, but the standard M4 is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 4.3 sec (4.1sec with the DCT), while AC Schnitzer’s 570PS (562hp) boasts a time of 3.9 seconds. So, you can imagine what Manhart’s figures are capable of, especially as the car’s body kit comes with carbon fiber accessories and hood – which shave off a few kilos.

If not, listen to the sound it makes, thanks to the stainless steel sports rear silencer and HJS 300 cell Downpipe.

Responsible for putting all that power to the ground is a set of Manhart Concave ONE rims, wrapped in Michelin Cup 2 295/30 ZR19 tires at the rear and 265/35 ZR19 at the front, while a KW coilover suspension and carbon strut bar makes sure the car will always be planted through the corners. The M2’s stopping power is impressive as well, as it sports six-piston calipers and 380 mm discs at the front, and four-piston calipers and 370 mm discs at the rear.

The interior is adorned in Alcantara with gold contrast stitching, while the Alcantara wrapped steering wheel and Recaro Sportster CS Sport seats are a reminder of what’s going on under the hood.
