Sightings of the next generation M5 are getting more frequent, with the latest showing a prototype of the super sedan tackling the tight curves of the Nurburgring.
With most of its panels carefully hidden away, the high-performance four-door is not keen to drop any hints on how it will look like. Nevertheless, previous reports indicate that the Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe Concept displayed in 2013 could have been the starting point for BMW‘s designers.
The latest 7-Series is believed to be closely followed when it comes to the interior, while the driver is likely to be assisted by semi-autonomous driving technology, with a self-steering mode, autonomous braking and anti-collision system.
However, the biggest and most discussed novelty will be the introduction of an xDrive all-wheel drive system, a first in a non-SUV M Division model, which will be offered as an option on top of the standard rear-wheel drive. Power is expected to come from the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine used on the current model, which will be reportedly massaged to deliver at least 600 HP, channeled to the wheels through a 7-speed double-clutch transmission.
