Part of the company’s plan to introduce five new or upgraded models in the second half of the year, the all-new Chevrolet Cruze follows the Malibu XL on the Chinese market.
Carrying a few minor changes over its North American sibling, which can be noticed mostly in the front end, the compact sedan is available in seven different trim levels, with a price tag varying between RMB 109,900 and RMB 169,900, ($16,405 to $25,365 in today’s exchange rates).
Depending on the selected grade, the 2017 Cruze can be equipped with keyless entry, push-button start, heated front seats, OnStar 4G LTE connectivity that serves as a Wi-Fi hotspot and will connect up to seven mobile devices within an area of 700 square meters, MyLink, Apple CarPlay and Baidu Carlife. The 7-inch multi-touch color screen is offered at no extra cost on all specifications.
The length of the wheelbase has remained unchanged at 2,700 mm (106.3 in), and the engine lineup comprises two units: a 149 PS (147 HP) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque 1.4-liter turbo, paired with a seven-speed DCG transmission, and a 115 PS (113 HP) and 146 Nm (108 lb-ft) 1.5-liter that can be mated to either a six-speed DSS or a six-speed manual gearbox.
Chevrolet’s offensive into China will continue this year with the introduction of an SUV and a performance vehicle, both of which will be launched in North America, too, simultaneously.
