The latest-generation Nissan Micra has been spied in the midst of testing in Southern Europe, adorned with significantly less camouflage than previously-spotted examples.
This particular test mule reveals that the new Micra will adopt a design dramatically different to that of the current car. In fact, rather than adopting a similar bubbly, curvy and soft design like the outgoing model, the new one will draw on the Nissan Pulsar and 2015’s Nissan Sway Concept heavily in its design.
This means that the vehicle’s body will be much more sporty and low-slung, particularly the front end. Additionally, the sides of the vehicle will be much bolder than the existing Micra and include more angular side windows and rear door handles hidden in the C-pillar, similar to the 9th-generation Honda Civic hatchback.
Meanwhile the rear of the new Nissan Micra will also be overhauled, now incorporating a prominent rooftop lip spoiler, a steeply raked window and thin horizontal taillights.
Set to be underpinned by the same platform as the next-generation Nissan Juke, we can expect the new Micra to debut at October’s Paris Motor Show.
