When the Model 3 prototype was revealed, many were surprised by the small trunk opening. At the time, CEO Elon Musk said that the small trunk was as a result of the glass-roof extending through to the decklid, designed to offer rear passengers adequate headroom.
Now, just a few days before Tesla concludes design work on the production-spec Model 3, Musk announced that trunk issues have been “taken care of” after being questioned on the subject by a Twitter follower.
It’s not yet known how Tesla has found a solution but Electrek suggests that the Model 3 could come with an option for a larger trunk.
Whatever the case may be, the success of the Model 3 was guaranteed soon after its unveiling with over 400,000 reservations received within a matter of weeks.
When the car does launch, it’ll be the marque’s first model to use batteries produced in the gigafactory offering a range of at least 215 miles (345 km) and launching the car to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 6 seconds flat.
