Over the last decade, mass manufacturers have made great leaps forward and equipment that were previously available only in the premium segment is now available in affordable compact vehicles.

Promoting some of these features is a demanding job for automakers. The most recent to think outside the box and give it a go is Seat.

Its first-ever SUV, the Ateca, was the obvious choice for displaying the latest tech. With its windows completely covered up, it set to a closed course near the beachfront in Barcelona, Spain, to offer volunteers the unique challenge of driving almost blindfolded.

The point was to demonstrate the 360-degree camera system, with images shown on the central display, a handy feature for when maneuvering into a parking space.

Sitting behind the Ateca’s wheel, and with an instructor riding shotgun to make sure that everything was under control, a German tourist gave it a try. Did he manage to complete the course only by looking at the monitor? You can find out by clicking on the video that follows.
