Some people may say that drag racing is easy, but after watching the following clip, you’ll have no doubt that it can be just as difficult and dangerous as all other forms of motorsport.
At a recent Shift S3ctor half mile event in the United States, a twin-turbocharged Chevrolet Camaro pumping out almost 1800 hp came unstuck at almost 200 mph (320 km/h), spinning and rolling multiple times after passing the finish line.
As captured by these selection of videos, the driver can be seen losing control as he begins to brake after the high-speed run. The tail of the car starts to squirm before sending the Camaro into an uncontrollable slide across the runway. The moment the car slides off into the grass, the driver becomes nothing but a passenger as it flips and begins to roll before coming to a violent stop.
Miraculously, both the driver and the passenger survived, thanks largely to the sturdy roll cage installed in the car. While the driver escaped uninjured, the passenger was knocked unconscious during the crash and had to be transported to a local hospital, thankfully free of any serious injuries.
