No, it’s not a typo, you can now order Smart’s 2016 ForTwo Coupe with a fabric roof cover at no extra cost.
Blurring the boundaries between the coupe and convertible, the rather unusual feature can also be ordered, as a no-cost option, on the Brabus and Brabus Xclusive as well, but customers will have to give up on the standard panoramic roof that comes with these versions.
Other novelties for the 2016 model year include the optional metallic cadmium red shade for the ForFour, which costs €60 ($66) on the Passion and Prime grades and comes as a no-cost option on the Brabus and Brabus Xclusive. Moreover, the fabric top of the ForTwo Cabrio can now be ordered in light beige and brown in the Brabus tailor made individualization program for an extra €996 ($1,097).
All versions of the ForTwo and ForFour come with the new i-Size child seat fastener as a standard feature, which is “a further development of the ISOFIX system”, as the manufacturer explains.
Previously known as the Sports Package, the suite that brings 16-inch alloy wheels with an eight-spoke Y-design finished in black, 10 mm lowered sports suspension, chrome tips for the exhaust, multi-function sports steering wheel and sports pedals in brushed stainless steel with rubber studs, is now called Sleek Style, priced from €650 ($716). Smart explains the name change was necessary to distinguish it furthermore from the Brabus Sports package.
