A 1980 Porsche 911 inspired by the example driven by Steve McQueen in the 1960’s is heading to Mecum Auctions sale in Monterey next month.
Built by Bisimoto Engineering, the car’s Slate Grey paint scheme is identical to the color that adorned the 911T that stared in the opening scenes of Le Mans. The exterior itself has been left to shine in all of its beautiful glory, free of any unnecessary aerodynamic elements or gaping-wide air intakes.
Power comes courtesy of a 3.6-liter flat-six complete with individual throttle bodies, an intake manifold from the 911 GT3 and a complete bespoke exhaust system. All up, the sports car squeezes out 316 hp, more than enough for a vehicle that only weighs 2,400 pounds.
Serious attention has also been paid to the 911’s handling so gone is the standard suspension and in its place sits a set of custom-made coilovers promising endless amounts of grip .
Inside,one will find distinctive aluminum seats, a Momo Prototip steering wheel and a four-point rollcage.
The car is expected to sell for between $135,000 and $175,000 with all proceeds benefiting Boys Republic, a community for troubled kids in California.
