The BMW M2 is a fast car, no question. Around the Nurburgring in fact, the firm set a blistering 7:58 lap time last year, some 7 seconds quicker than the E92-generation BMW M3.
While the firm has never released a full video of that lap, the following clip from an M2 owner does give us an excellent idea of how potent the car is. With KTM GT4 race driver Jamie Vandenbalck at the helm, it managed to complete a bridge-to-gantry lap in 7 minutes and 50 seconds.
While that is someway off BMW’s official time, this clip is exciting to watch not for the lap time but the sheer seamless speed the M2 manages to carry around the famed German circuit. With a professional racing driver behind the wheel, there is little understeer or oversteer evident as the punchy little two-door unleashes its punchy 3.0-liter straight-six engine.
That engine manages to pump out 365 hp and can be mated to either a seven-speed automatic transmission or instead, a more driver-focused six-speed manual ‘box. Power is sent exclusively through the rear wheels making for one of the most appealing driver’s cars on the market.
