The all-new tougher-than-ever, Baja-inspired F-150 Raptor features the most capable shock absorbers you’ll ever find in a pickup truck, according to Ford.

The company has teamed up with FOX to create a purpose-built setup exclusive to the new Raptor with the goal to offer better on- and off-road performance.

Together they developed a 3.0-inch shock absorber that features a base valve piston to enable lower gas pressure, translating into a more comfortable ride on the road. The internal bypass in both the front and rear absorbers has nine distinct zones that manage shock forces.

The final zones also act as hydraulic bump stops to send fluid through the top of the piston while in full compression, preventing the suspension from bottoming out.

The new shock absorbers offer 44 per cent more volume for increased heat dissipation and fade resistance, thanks to the increase from 2.5 inches to three inches in diameter. The new generation Raptor also offers nearly two inches more suspension travel over its predecessor, with 13 inches at the front and 13.9 at the rear axle.

Impressive facts but then again, you wouldn’t expect anything less from a Raptor.
