Before Suzuki unveils the all new Swift at September’s Paris Motor Show, we’ve been granted a preview of the latest Swift Sport courtesy of our eagle-eyed spy photographers.
As with the rest of the updated Swift range, the Sport will be easily identifiable from the outgoing model thanks to the reshaped body and overhauled interior.
Most significantly, the test mule snapped testing is sporting a larger front chin spoiler and bigger air intakes than the standard car, giving the performance-focused model much more road presence. Additionally, the car has been installed with flared front and rear wheel arches, enlarged five stud wheels, a small roof spoiler and twin exhaust pipes.
Power for the new Suzuki Swift Sport should be provided by the same turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder as the Vitara S. When installed in the Swift’s bigger sibling, this engine delivers 140 hp and there’s a good chance that figure will be maintained, or slightly increased, for the Swift Sport. A six-speed manual transmission will then come as standard.
The existing 136 hp Swift Sport has proven itself to be quite a thrilling hatchback so with slightly more power, an updated chassis and less weight, the new car has the ingredients to be even better.
