Reports are pointing towards Alpine launching an SUV as its second model, not long after its long-awaited sports car hits dealership floors.
It has already been confirmed that the relaunched brand’s first model will lead to the creation of a complete family. Now Autocar suggests that the first of those additional models will directly rival the Jaguar F-Pace and Porsche Macan.
Details about the Alpine SUV are quite scarce but there’s a strong possibility the firm will draw on alliance partner Nissan to help bring the car to reality. This means that as with the impending sports crossover from Nissan, Alpine’s model will be powered by some kind of plug-in hybrid powertrain driving all four wheels.
Giving Alpine’s sporting ethos and performance-focused values, it is in an ideal position to launch an SUV to compete against the market’s most driver-oriented models.
In fact, Alpine boss Michael van der Sande recently said that no matter what models the marque creates, its products will target being the “most agile and fun to drive” in their respective classes.
