The Volkswagen Group may be in a bit of a financial pickle with the ongoing diesel emissions scandal, but that didn’t stop Audi chief executive Rupert Stadler from throwing a massive party in May.
According to German publication Bild Am Soontag, Stadler organized a party at the Rothehof hotel in Wolfsburg, Germany with 30 members from Audi’s upper-echelon of executives. All up, the party is said to have cost over €12,500 ($14,000).
The party reportedly saw the executives engaging in a jovial beer drinking contest to the tunes of a brass band from Bavaria and a second band from Cologne. Additionally, two well-known (but unnamed) comedians were hired to set the mood for the night.
When hit with the bill, Stadler allegedly wanted to put it in company expenses. Well, his bosses in the VW Group were of a different mind and asked that he deal with it himself.
Given his paycheck, we believe it won’t put that much of a dent in his bank account.
