While Pokemon Go is not a novelty anymore, it can still lead to suspicious behaviors that can easily be misinterpreted by authorities.
A police helicopter patrolling a neighborhood in Ontario, Canada, captured footage of a Mercedes-Benz that was making suspicious stops and turns just past 3 a.m., on Monday morning. The video shows the vehicle as it was driven slowly on a straight road, entering a parking lot, going through a residential area and stopping a few times on the way.
Concerned that the driver might have been impaired or that a criminal act could be committed at any time, officers contacted ground units to go in and check it out. When the man was pulled over, he admitted to playing Pokemon Go behind the wheel, and got off with just a warning on the potential dangers of driving while distracted.
Since the launch of the extremely popular app, users have been involved in some strange and sometimes dangerous situations. It’s been reported that some were mugged in dark alleys, while others found dead bodies. Several accidents have also been reported with drivers and pedestrians, who were trying to catching the little cartoons.
