At some point, watching a bunch of overpowered cars competing to see which is fastest in a straight line can become tedious. So why not spice up drag racing a little bit with an unconventional method?
How does “reverse drag racing” sound? Scary? Well, it should be, especially if you imagine a couple of top-fuel dragster racing the other way around.
Thankfully, Carwow tried it out with four conventional offerings (if you count the Caterham 620S as such), and the results are entertaining to watch, not to mention informative – for those looking for a car that can back up really fast, that is.
Since the Olympic Games are in full swing, the motoring show decided to have its own version, only with cars, pitting the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT (USA), the BMW M2 (Germany), the Caterham 620S (England), and the Honda Civic Type-R (Japan) against each other in a classic test of pure horsepower, torque and traction.
As it turns out, the best choice for an affordable reverse racing dragster is a 310 PS (306 hp), front-wheel-drive hatchback.
