Taking a trip back to the dealer isn’t always pleasant, especially if your ride is part of a recall, but for 889 owners of certain Ram trucks, they can’t avoid it.
Manufactured from July 24, 2015, to January 7, 2016, the 2016 RAM 3500 will be joined by the 2016 Ram 4500 and 5500, put together between July 24 and October 8, 2015, at local dealers across the nation to have their transfer cases replaced.
The defective part, identified in Cab Chassis trucks, could contain rear output main shafts with “chevron” shaped voids and it could fracture while driving, resulting in the loss of power and Park functionality in two-wheel drive mode, but will remain operable in 4WD.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is aware of a few warranty returns associated with the defect and has already started notifying users of the above-mentioned models of the new safety campaign. In order to minimize customer inconvenience, the automotive giant recommends placing owners in loaner vehicles, if their trucks must be held overnight for repairs.
