If you think that driving a Focus RS will automatically transform you into Ken Block, you might be mistaken.
It turns out that, at least for some people, the Focus RS is a lot harder to drift than you may think. While the following video doesn’t prove that this 350 HP hot hatchback isn’t the drift machine Ford advertised, it does force you to consider a few things.
First, Ford wouldn’t be offering their services to Focus RS owners over at the new RS Adrenaline Academy if this car wasn’t a bit of a handful (in a good way), regardless of which driving mode you’re in. It’s mostly because it’s good enough to require a certain talent behind the wheel in order to squeeze out all the performance.
However, in retrospect, this also means you need to be on your game when you’re pushing the car in Drift Mode, which is what Salomondrin tried to do in one of his latest videos.
Both he and one of his friends took turns trying to drift the Focus RS and they were somewhat successful a few times. Judging by some of the comments, someone who’s part of Salomondrin’s “CupGang” said that they tried to turn the traction control off but it wouldn’t stay off all the time.
Could they have thrown the car around a little more violently and perhaps attempt a very popular Scandinavian maneuver? Possibly. But we’re more interested to hear what you think.
