New spy shots of the next-generation Kia Rio have surfaced online this time showing what appears to be the sporty GT version.
While the tester is bathed in thick camouflage, it stands out from other prototypes due to the bolder and more aggressive front fascia. Additionally, the headlight clusters have been adorned with circular LED daytime running lights while the rear end appears to be complemented with LED taillights.
Details about the latest generation Rio are scarce but the subcompact is expected to bring with it a selection of new engines while still being available with some familiar choices, including the 1.6-liter GDI powertrain.
As for what will power the Rio GT, it is hard to say but there is talk it could make use of a brand new three-cylinder turbo, providing Kia with a rival to the likes of the Renault Clio RS and Ford Fiesta ST.
If reports are accurate, development of the regular 2017 Rio is at quite an advanced stage, meaning a debut in early 2017 is inevitable. The GT should follow shortly after.
