McLaren is hardly the oldest automaker to participate in Monterey Car Week, but it has been participating for the past seven years running now.

And this year it will be back again with a couple of North American debuts – and one project they’re not even telling us about yet.

On display for the first time on American soil will be the two latest additions to McLaren’s Sports Series: the 570GT and the 570S GT4. Confused by the difference? Despite their similar names, the two models stand at polar extremes of their common model line.

The 570GT (like the one we drove recently) is a comfort-enhanced, touring-focused sports car, with a slightly softer setup, a more comfortable interior and added luggage space. The 570S GT4, meanwhile, is the racing model that’s already racked up its first race win this past weekend at the Snetterton circuit in the UK as part f the British GT Championship.

The British constructor will also display the M2B/1 (its first F1 car), the M8D/4 Can-Am racer, Emerson Fittipaldi’s 1975 championship-winning M23A, and the legendary MP4-2/2 that McLaren calls “the most successful chassis in Formula 1 history.”

There’ll be a P1 GTR displayed alongside the M8F Can-Am racer as well, but that’s not even the end of it. McLaren Special Operations is also set to reveal an undisclosed “unique project” at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, August 21. We’re looking forward, as always, to seeing what it has in store.
