If you’re reluctant to call Porsche’s 911 GT3 RS the ‘King of the ‘Ring’, then you can at least view it as some sort of “Green Hell royalty”.

With that in mind, this McLaren 675LT is in a great position to watch that throne as chases down the Porsche for what should have been a full lap – except that the camera equipment stopped recording due to overheating towards the end, as stated in the video’s description.

Now, while the McLaren doesn’t actually have an official lap time on the Nurburgring, by the looks of things, it’s definitely capable of edging out the GT3 RS’s 7:20.00 run.

The reason why the GT3 RS is so quick in the first place is because it’s 10 kg (22 lbs) lighter than the GT3 while also pushing down 500 PS and 460 Nm (338 lb-ft) of torque – resulting in a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of just 3.3 seconds.

As for the 675LT, it’s not only lighter, but it packs way more power at 675 PS and plenty more torque at 700 Nm (516 lb-ft). It’s also 0.3 seconds quicker to 100 km/h than the Porsche and faster overall by 20 km/h (12 mph) once maxed out.

And no, you don’t need two professional racing drivers to figure out that the McLaren pulls just a little harder as soon as it exits the corner, before starting to gain on the GT3 RS – slowly but surely.

Still, that Porsche looks incredibly poised on the track, wouldn’t you say?
