Mitsubishi is developing a compact electric SUV for launch within the next four years, reports Australian publication Motoring.
During a recent visit to Australia’s Kangaroo Island, Mitsubishi chief executive and president, Osamu Masuko, revealed to the local council that the firm is planning an electric SUV to hit global markets by 2020.
Little else is known about the car other than the fact that it will have a range of around 250 miles (400 km), putting it right in line with the likes of the Chevrolet Bolt and Tesla Model 3.
There’s a strong possibility the car being referred to by Masuko-san is the all-electric subcompact SUV based around the eX Concept. The word on the street is that this car will combine its electric powertrain with an all-wheel drive system and a host of automated driving and active safety systems.
When the model launches, it will rival cars like the Nissan Juke, Ford EcoSport, Opel Mokka and Peugeot 2008.
