The Russians are pushing Lada further into the 21st century with the XCode Concept presented at the 2016 Moscow International Motor Show.
Tipped to hit the assembly lines next year, the study previews a small SUV that has its eyes set on the Nissan Juke and carries a modern look, with an X signature sculpted on its sides, a sloping roofline and futuristic wheel pattern.
The automaker is not keen on revealing more secrets about the XCode, but states that it contains “a range of perspective solutions, including possible application of turbo engine and all-wheel drive transmission, as well as telematic platform Lada Connect, allowing to operate the vehicle systems by smartphone and in the future to use cloud services in the car.”
Joining it under the spotlight in Moscow is the Vesta Cross Concept Sedan, a more rugged version of the four-door vehicle, equipped with special cladding to protect it in light off-roading, an increased clearance and larger wheels. First demonstrated in 2015, the Vesta SW Cross Concept is also on display, featuring extended cladding and a jacked up suspension.
While these two Vestas are all about exploring, another study, the Vesta Sport, takes things to the track, with its race style exterior and interior. This model is equipped with a track-tuned suspension, based on the experience of the Lada team in racing competitions all over the world, including WTCC, as the manufacturer explains.
Last but not least, two XRay concepts can be seen at the brand’s stand, the XRay Cross Concept, with off-road cladding and increased ground clearance, and the XRay Sport Concept, with a lowered suspension and extra oomph. The latter demonstrates “possible development of serial Lada lineup, with high-power engines and racing style.”
