Jason Kenny is heading home from Rio with three gold medals in his luggage. But soon he’ll be leaving behind the bicycle with which he dominated the track cycling events at the Olympics this year and slinking into the cockpit of a Radical SR3 RSX.
The highly decorated Olympian is set to take part in the Radical Challenge race this coming weekend at Brands Hatch in the UK. And it won’t be his first time, either: he raced Radicals back in 2004, even landing on the podium at the Nürburgring. But as his training stepped up for the Olympics, he had to give up on motor racing… but only temporarily. With the cycling competitions now completed, Kenny will get back to racing with Radical.
With six gold medals and one silver to his name, Kenny is the most successful Olympian in British history. It’s a title he shares with fellow Olympic cyclist Sir Chris Hoy (now retired), who as it happens will be Kenny’s teammate for the race this weekend. We could hardly imagine a better pairing.
