JLR is launching a full-on assault on its rivals and their next weapon, Range Rover Sport Coupe, will be targeting the BMW X6 and Merc GLE Coupe head-on.
Being pioneered by X6, this particular niche is increasingly popular and, yes, very lucrative, so it’s high-time they did something about it. Prototypes are being hcaught testing in the wild, still with camo on of course. Thus, here’s RemcoM’s renderings to give as an idea what the finished product might look like.
Inspired by other vehicles in JLR’s lineup, such as the Range Rover Sport and Evoque and the brand-new Jaguar F-Pace, it’s more athletic than the “regular” Sport yet classy, one of the criticisms leveled at the X6.
On the technical side, reports state that it will share its underpinnings with the F-Pace, while the engine lineup should include a variety of petrol and diesel mills, from the 2-liter Ingenium to the 5-liter supercharged V8 and even a hot SVR M-Division and AMG rival. There have also been rumors on a possible hybrid version that could join the lineup and an all-electric powertrain could be in the cards too.
