While Skoda tries to keep the Kodiaq carefully hidden away inside new teasers, a prototype spotted in the Czech Republic is giving us pointers on the upcoming SUV.
It might seem like the pre-production vehicle is almost naked, but taking a closer look at the images posted by MagazinProDriverCZ reveals that the panels have been wrapped in body-colored vinyl, while the lighting units on both ends, which appear to be Range Rover-inspired, are being kept under plastic covers.
Since practicality was a main asset in the Kodiaq’s development, the SUV will boast the largest boot capacity within its class, as Skoda states, and will come in standard with a five-seat configuration, but you will be able to check a third row of seats on the options list, along with the folding front passenger seat that will allow you to transport items of up to 2.90 meters long.
Set to celebrate its world premiere on September 1, prior to its Paris Motor Show debut, the Skoda Kodiaq will benefit from the latest driver assistance systems to ensure improved safety and comfort, including the Tow Assist, Connect mobile online services, Infotainment Online services, Care Connect and Emergency Call.
Setting it in motion will be a wide selection of petrol and diesel engines, expected to kick off with the 125 PS (125 HP) 1.4-liter TSI and to be topped by a 2-liter TDI with 190 PS (187 HP). More affordable variants will come with front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual gearbox, but pay extra and the all-wheel drive, with output channeled through a DSG, will be unlocked.
