Seat has turned to a Spanish artist, who specializes in sand sculptures, to create a full-sized sculpture of the Ateca.
Made from 26 tonnes of sand, the replica is on display at Barcelona’s El Prat airport, in Terminal 1, where roughly 100,000 passengers can admire it each day, and to highlight its presence furthermore, a real-life Seat Ateca is on display next to it.
“The aim of this installation is to showcase Barcelona-based art and design with an ephemeral sculpture. Barcelona has one of Europe’s 10 busiest airports and is the ideal location to display the Ateca and, at the same time, highlight the brand’s link with the city of Barcelona“, said Susanne Franz, the brand’s global Marketing Director.
Made by Sergi Ramirez, who has been creating sand sculptures for the past 30 years, this creation is the Spanish manufacturer’s latest promotion stunt and comes a couple of weeks after it challenged bystanders to drive the vehicle with its windows completely covered. The goal behind that run was to demonstrate the effectiveness of the new SUV’s 360-degree camera system.
