A report from Japanese publication Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, cited by Auto News, suggests that Subaru is five years away from introducing an electric crossover.
Subaru’s parent company Fuji Heavy Industries hasn’t denied the report, with a spokesman simply responding to the press saying “we have yet to decide on any specifics at the moment.”
The new, as yet unnamed, addition to Subaru’s range will be built on the company’s recently unveiled Global Platform that will underpin all of its future models. This flexible architecture has the capacity to accommodate petrol, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and crucially, all-electric powertrains.
No other info is known about the car. at this point, apart from speculation that it could be aimed squarely at the U.S. market
