Tesla’s are proving so incredibly popular in Denmark that some owners are being forced to wait 2 to 3 months to have their cars serviced.
Late last year, Denmark’s government announced that it would phase out its tax break for electric vehicles by the end of 2015. This led to a rush of EV sales across the country before the tax breaks were removed and prices soared. In fact, Tesla sold almost as many cars in the last 3 months of 2015 than it had since the Model S arrived in the nation back in 2013, says Electrek.
Tesla only has two service facilities in Denmark and was able to cope with a fleet of 1,000 vehicles across the country. Now there are almost 3,000 Tesla models on local streets resulting in massive servicing delays.
In response, the company says that it is working on doubling the servicing capacity at its facilities in Aarhus and Copenhagen but for many infuriated owners, it’s too late.
Some owners have apparently been forced to go to Germany to have their cars serviced and Tesla’s trust score on local review websites is said to be falling from the sky. The national Tesla forum is also full of unhappy owners.
Given that Tesla sales have dried up in Denmark this year, with just 49 Model S deliveries in 2016, it’s seem probable that the backlog will soon be resolved, much to the delight of owners.
