While Pokemon Go players have been involved in a number of bizarre incidents since the game’s launch, one car dealership in Texas is profiting from the app after selling three vehicles to local players.
In late July, Street Toyota hosted a Pokemon Go event at its showroom and it was there where salesman Nick Schuman met fellow players who just a few days later, become clients of the dealership.
Automotive News reports the dealership spent $20 on in-app “lures” to attract Pokemon to the site and a further $25 promoting the event across Facebook and Instagram. That tiny investment led to the sale of a 2012 Chrysler Town & Country, a 2010 Ford Escape and a 2011 Ford Escape.
In the case of one of the Escapes, it was sold the day after the Pokemon Go event when two friends decided to trade in their vehicle.
Given the success of the first event, Street Toyota will hold another Pokemon Go gathering this Sunday in the hopes of building rapport with more future clients.
