What happens when Icon gets its hands on one ex-police high-mileage Caprice? Perfection does.
While ex-police cars usually don’t make the stealthiest highway cruisers, this Chevrolet Caprice was built for under-the-radar interstate trips, receiving all the tender love and care that only Icon can apply to cars that step into their garage.
The large Chevy was stripped down to its frame, got a 6.2-litre LS3 V8 engine mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox, and then brought back together with the eye-watering level of detail Icon is known for.
Even the wheels that look like the stock steel ones are now bigger items made out of aluminum while all the body trim, including the grille and the door handles were scanned and remade in the same lightweight material.
Add to that that the whole underbody and floor was coated in polyurea for added insulation, with the cabin getting a complete renovation with new Recaro seats, leather upholstery and a high end audio system among other things.
Jonathan Ward, Icon’s boss takes us for a drive in this very special Caprice, explaining with much more details the clever idea behind it.
