Toronto police are currently investigating an incident that took place last Thursday after multiple reports came in about a cab driver swerving to intentionally hit a delivery cyclist.
In the video, you can clearly see the cyclist hitting the side of the car with his left hand, right before the driver of the Toyota sedan pinned the bicycle between his car and the sidewalk, causing the cyclist to fall down.
As soon as the person holding the camera approaches the scene of the accident, the cyclist can be heard telling the taxi driver “You’re going to jail. That is assault.”
According to The Star, the cyclist wasn’t injured during the fall, which is fortunate seen as how he wasn’t wearing any protective gear – not even a helmet.
The courier’s employer, Favour Delivery, released a statement saying they were “extremely concerned” by what had happened. “The safety of our runners is a top priority. We are in close contact with the runner. The police have been informed and are currently investigating the incident,” said spokesperson Tina Heileman.
As of right now, no charges have been filed.
