Last time we saw BJ Baldwin, he was chasing a with his outrageous 800hp Trophy Truck. Interesting, to say the least, although now he has, ahem…borrowed a Ferret Scout to hoon around and showcase Toyo’s tires.
Commonly found in the British Army, RAF Regiment and Commonwealth countries throughout the period, the Ferret Scout is an armored fighting vehicle, built between 1952 and 1971, designed and manufactured for reconnaissance purposes.
However, its 3.7-ton weight and straight-six Rolls Royce B60 Inlet over Exhaust engine (that develops 130hp), aren’t doing any wonders when it comes to performance. Neither the later model’s upgraded 4-liter six that chugged out 175-horsepower.
In order to perform stunts and jumps in the video, BJ Baldwin needed something more extreme, that’s why his particular 1959 Ferret was fitted with an LS V8. Now, we don’t know the exact power figure it boasts, but judging by the way it moves we can say it has more than enough. Especially as the vehicle is equipped with two extra middle wheels, which can be engaged via hydraulic motors; talk about traction.
Naturally, a revised suspension was implemented, in order to allow the Ferret to travel through rough terrain and conquer obstacles.
