Last weekend, as the Gulf Coast got hit by heavy rain and flooding, three men from Baton Rouge worked together in order to pull a woman and her small dog out of her sinking car.
Initially, they tried to break the window but soon resorted to cutting open the fabric roof. One of the men jumped in the water and managed to pull the woman out, only for her to ask him to also rescue her dog which had become trapped inside the already fully submerged car.
The footage is pretty shocking, but we’d rather use the term amazing in honor of what was in the end a very brave act. We’re also glad nobody was hurt in this particular instance, despite the fact that at least three people were reported killed across the state.
Also, around 125 vehicles were left stranded on a 7 mile stretch of road on Interstate 12 as rescuers were taking the occupants to safety.
Earlier this year we showed you a similar rescue in Amsterdam where a mother and her child were saved from a sinking car by no fewer than four brave bystanders.
