The more practical version of the A5 Coupe (or is it a sportier A4?), aka the A5 Sportback, was unveiled by Audi a few hours ago and now we get to see it in motion.

Perhaps “them” is more appropriate a word than “it”, for Ingolstadt released both the regular A5 as well as the, em, sporty S5 Sportback simultaneously ahead of the Paris Auto Show official launch.

Unsurprisingly, the emphasis on the videos is on the 348 HP S5 that will be the series’ halo model until the RS comes along, most likely sometime next year. Its 348 HP do not make it an M3 fighter (the RS5 will assume that role), but for the moment it will have to do.

Besides the S5’s 3.0-liter TFSI, customers will be able to choose between three variants of the 2.0-liter TFSI petrol four, with 167, 187 and 248 HP respectively, an 184 2.0-liter diesel in “normal” and Ultra configuration and the 3.0-liter TDI that puts out 281 HP and an S5-humbling 620 Nm of torque.

As always, front- and all-wheel drive are available, while (depending on the version) there are three transmissions on offer: a six-speed manual, a seven-speed DSG and an eight-speed Tiptronic auto.
