September 29, at 1:45 pm CEST (7.45 am EST) is the date when Audi will lift the veils off the all-new Q5, during the 2016 Paris Auto Show.
Teased in a short video that hints at Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, the SUV reveals the design of its new rotary knob, which is used to operate the latest infotainment system, and mirrors the one found inside the latest A4 and Q7.
The two vehicles will also serve as an inspiration on the outside, where similar lighting units, a new grille and lines that will match the ones of its larger brother will be found, making the all-new Q5 more competitive against the likes of the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
Underneath the skin, the 2017 Audi Q5 will ride on the MQB platform, which is used by numerous modern vehicles made under the Volkswagen umbrella, and will help it shed more than 100 kg (220 lbs) over its predecessor, according to previous info.
As for the engine lineup, the architecture will open the possibilities of four-cylinder and V6 petrol and diesel mills, mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and pushing the output to the FWD or Quattro AWD, depending on the selected version. Rumor has it that an SQ5 is also part of the lineup, and chances are that the RS badge will be strapped to its body later on, for the most potent version, one that could see more than 400 HP.
