Nissan will show the limited edition GT-R Nismo for the first time on U.S. soil at the 12th Annual Japanese Classic Car Show in California next to a selection of classic Datsun and Nissan models.
While the 2017 GT-R Nismo still offers the same 591hp (600PS), Nissan’s engineers were able to make the body structure even stiffer and further increase the downforce levels for even better track performance.
Next to it, visitors will be also able to see racecars like the legendary championship-winning Brock Racing Enterprises (BRE) No. 46 Datsun 510, as well as the No. 05 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3.
Additional vehicles to be shown include a mint example of a 1969 Nissan Patrol next to a 2017 Armada, a 1962 Nissan Fairlady and a modified 1971 Nissan Skyline ‘Hakosuka’ GT-R tribute car. Matchbox, the popular maker of die-cast models will also be there to showcase their new model, a 1971 Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-X Coupe on a 1:64 scale.
“Nissan is looking forward to returning to the Japanese Classic Car Show as both a participant and an event partner,” said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. “It’s an ideal venue to show off our latest supercar – the 2017 GT-R Nismo – as well as some current and vintage racing and street machines.”
The event will take place in the Harry Bridge’s Memorial Park at the Queen Mary, in Long Beach, California on September 24, with more than 7,000 spectators expected for visit.
“To be able to share vehicles such as the BRE 510 and Fairlady and Patrol with Nissan fans, as well as the latest in our lineup with the 2017 Armada, is a true pleasure,” added Bunce. “And it’s also a great honor to be joined by Matchbox this year – their products are where most of us started our love affair with the automobile.”
