A prototype of the most potent member of the new Audi A5 Coupe family, the RS5, has been filmed unleashing its horses on the famous German track.
With around 500hp sitting at its disposal, produced by a 3.0-liter V6 engine that will get either two conventional turbos or a turbo and a small electric charger, it will go up against the BMW M4 Coupe, Mercedes-AMG C63 and C63 S Coupe and Cadillac ATS-V Coupe, among others.
Peel its camouflage away and it will reveal an RS-specific grille, more aggressive bumpers on both ends, wider fenders, and larger side skirts, while setting it further apart from the rest of the A5 range will be the bespoke wheels, placed in front of the high-performance brakes.
Telling drivers and passengers that this isn’t the regular Audi A5 Coupe will be the different materials and look for the center console and seats, along with the ‘RS5’ graphics integrated into the virtual cockpit. Overall, the interior will mirror the one in the latest S5 Coupe.
As for the reveal date, nothing is certain at this point, but if we don’t see it in LA or Detroit, then it should make it to the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
